v2.3
Tabs, friends, Explore, and your own account settings
Latest10 changes
- Change your password, email and handle yourself in Settings, and reset a forgotten password from the sign-in page. Your old handle can stay as an alias so links keep working.
- Delete your account yourself from Settings. It takes everything with it and cannot be undone.
- Card tabs: add up to four tabs beside Home, with text and picture galleries.
- Spotify on your card: the song, the artist, the album art and a progress bar, from Lanyard.
- Friends: ask someone by handle, and once they say yes you appear on each other's pages.
- More style: set how your page looks when pasted in Discord, colour your badges, upload your own font, and turn on night mode for after 8 pm.
- File links can have your own colour, site name and description when pasted in Discord, and code in a paste is coloured.
- Explore: find pages that chose to be listed, trending or newest, with search. Turn it on in Settings.
- Templates show a preview of each look, and can be liked and sorted by most liked.
- A profile of the week on the front page, and a blue checkmark for well-known people so nobody can pretend to be them.

v2.2
Copy a look you like
4 changes
- Every profile has a copy button next to Report and the leaderboard. It opens a card listing exactly what that page's look is made of, with what each part is: the font, the name style, the colours, the card's width, height and corners, the glass, the underglow, the layout, the background, the background effect, the music, the cursor, the decoration, the enter screen.
- Tick what you want, or everything at once, and your page has it straight away. Undo puts yours back.
- Your name, bio, picture, links and badges are never copied, and backgrounds, songs and cursors are copied as your own files, so your page never breaks if theirs changes.
- Don't want to be copied? Turn off Let people copy my look in Appearance.

v2.1
Passkeys, a list of where you are signed in, and safer links
10 changes
- Sign in with a passkey: Face ID, a fingerprint, your phone or a security key. Add one in Security.
- Security now lists every device signed in to your account, with its country and when it was last used, and you can sign any of them out on its own.
- A sign-in from a device or country your account has not used before sends you an email.
- New passwords are checked against known data breaches, privately: only a few characters of a one-way hash ever leave the site.
- Links on profiles are checked against lists of malware and phishing sites, when they are added and again when someone clicks them.
- Following a link off a profile to a site that is not well known now shows where it goes first, in a card you can back out of.
- A profile reported by several different people is hidden until it has been looked at.
- Five new widgets: Discord servers, Steam, Twitch, SoundCloud and Telegram. Profiles can show up to six.
- Big-file space is now 1 GB per account, and a single file can be up to 1 GB.
- The whole site is backed up every night.
24 September 2026
v2.0
Files up to 2 GB, links that open once, and a report form
11 changes
- The file host takes files up to 2 GB each. Big files go up in pieces with a progress bar, and videos play and seek straight away. Every account has 5 GB of big-file space, with a meter on the Files page.
- Every file link can be one-time or forever. A one-time link opens for one person, once, for fifteen minutes, then dies; make a new one whenever you like. Chat apps building a preview cannot use up the view.
- Links can delete themselves after an hour, a day, a week or a month, and can ask for a password if you want one. Both are optional.
- Share several files behind one link as a bundle, with the same choices.
- Deleting a file is for good: it stops working at once and cannot be restored. File links are never shown to search engines.
- Backgrounds and songs can be up to 250 MB.
- Every picture uploaded for a profile is now checked automatically, not just cursors.
- Reports have their own form on the report page, straight to the owner. Discord still works too.
- Download everything the site keeps about your account, and every file you uploaded, from Settings.
- The Discord name and picture on your status widget update by themselves when you change them on Discord.
- The browser back button always takes you back, on every page.
24 September 2026
v1.9
A faster decoration picker
2 changes
- The avatar decoration picker opens instantly, even on All: only the decorations you can see are drawn, and hovering one no longer redraws the rest.
- The front page says what the site is for in its own words.
24 September 2026
v1.8
Free handles, a privacy policy, and a report button
6 changes
- Handles are free: there is no word filter any more. Anything that works as an address can be yours, except the names of the site’s own pages.
- A full privacy policy at /privacy that lists exactly what is kept, for how long and who else handles it, and a report page at /report that goes straight to the owner. Every profile has a small report button next to the leaderboard.
- Handles can now be temporarily shut down (they show that the owner is being contacted, and the page still works at your other names) or banned for good. If your main handle is banned you pick a new one, or one of your aliases, the next time you sign in.
- Custom cursors are checked automatically: a nude or sexual image cannot be used as a cursor, and the same image is refused on sight from then on. Only that image is affected.
- On phones: the background video no longer shows a play button and starts on your first tap if the phone blocks autoplay; the leaderboard opens as a centred popup above everything; and profiles with tilt now lean as you tilt your phone. Taps never tilt the card.
- Fixed: the status page reported the image host as down because it was reading a text paste back as a file. Nothing was wrong with the image host.
23 September 2026
v1.7
Fonts that load and names that move
8 changes
- Fixed: any font with a space in its name (Almendra SC, Playfair Display and hundreds more) never loaded on profiles, which quietly fell back to the plain system font. Everything on a profile, socials included, is now in the font its owner picked.
- Every name style moves now: Gradient flows, Neon hums, Toon bobs, Pop jumps, Gummy squishes, Chrome catches the light, and the name glow breathes. Wave now ripples through the letters instead of lifting them all at once.
- The font picker opens on the most popular fonts, sorts by style, shows your name in every font, and scrolls through all 1,825.
- The card no longer slides under the leaderboard button at the top.
- Up to ten aliases. Every name a page answers to is listed and linked, the main one included.
- If you mute a profile’s music or turn it down, it stays that way next time you visit. That choice is kept in your own browser, never sent anywhere.
- Passwords are now also protected by a secret pepper kept outside the database, so even a stolen copy of it could not be used to work out anyone’s password.
- The terms now list exactly what is stored, where, and for how long.
23 September 2026
v1.6
A black dashboard, a live leaderboard, and a steadier status page
9 changes
- The dashboard is black now, in Magic UI’s style: every card lights up along its edge where your pointer is, pages fade in, and the unsaved-changes bar has a light running round it.
- Nothing on mutate.lol or the status page can be copied or dragged out. Text boxes still work normally, and copy buttons still copy.
- Analytics is no longer in the dashboard sidebar.
- The most-viewed board refreshes itself every ten seconds while it is open, and the view count on a profile keeps up too.
- Profiles reached by an alias load in one trip to the database, like any other.
- Pictures and files are kept at the edge, so they load without a trip to storage each time.
- status.mutate.lol checks from one fixed place now, eastern North America next to the database, instead of wherever Cloudflare happened to run it, so the readings are steady and comparable. It says where on the page.
- The status page is a quarter of the size it was, and the heading is just “service status”.
- The incident history clears itself every night at 12:00 am, eastern time. Open incidents stay until they are resolved.
23 September 2026
v1.5
Faster, steadier, and a new typeface
5 changes
- The whole site is set in Outfit now: the dashboard, the front page, every profile that has not picked its own font, the file host and the status page.
- Profiles load in one trip to the database instead of two, and the site’s code now runs next to the database rather than crossing an ocean for every read.
- Sign-in no longer waits on its own bookkeeping.
- Roblox, GitHub, Spotify and YouTube cards keep showing the last good answer when one of them briefly refuses us, instead of vanishing. The status page checks exactly that.
- status.mutate.lol: no glow behind the heading, the mark sits at the top as an icon, and “.lol” is the mark’s own blue.
23 September 2026
v1.4
Every decoration, every Discord badge, and new looks
12 changes
- Avatar decorations: all 637 of Discord’s now, up from 327, in 62 collections including Halloween ’25, Nitro, Quests and Orbs.
- Every Discord badge is yours to wear, free, whether or not your account has it: Nitro and Nitro Basic, every Nitro tier from Bronze to Opal, all nine boost badges, Orbs, Quests, HypeSquad, Staff, Partner, Bug Hunter, gifting, account age, streaming and game badges. Up to eight, in Badges.
- Visit badges (10 to 100 visits), free as well.
- New name styles: Solid, Gradient, Neon, Toon, Pop, Gummy, Chrome and Prism, with a name colour and a second colour.
- Underglow: a ring of colour around your card, one colour or a gradient, still or pulsing, breathing or flowing, with its own speed and intensity. The card’s corner radius is adjustable too.
- A live “N here now” beside the view count. Nobody is stored to count it.
- Fold your links under a SOCIALS toggle.
- Aliases under your name are links now.
- The mutate.lol mark stays centred at the top of the card at every width and every length.
- The mutate.lol badge is badge-sized in the badge row.
- The dashboard sidebar keeps its place when you change category.
- status.mutate.lol: the heading reads “mutate.lol service status”, over the mutate.lol mark. Fast is now under 150ms (green); Average is amber, Slow orange, Down red. Hover a row for its milliseconds and last failure. One failed check shows as Retrying, not Down.
23 September 2026
v1.3
Decorations, Discord, a leaderboard and a status page
14 changes
- Avatar decorations: every one of Discord’s, animated, in Appearance. Pick one, or wear the one on your own Discord account.
- Add your Discord user id and your page shows the badges your Discord account really has (up to eight) and, through Lanyard, your live status and what you are doing.
- A most-viewed leaderboard behind the button at the top of every profile.
- Your aliases are listed under your name, as “also @…”.
- The enter screen is yours to word, set wide in brackets: “[ click to enter ]”.
- The mutate.lol mark sits above every profile picture.
- Text on a profile can no longer be selected or copied.
- The preinfection.lol template is now preinfection’s own card, exactly: its markup, its film through the letters of your name, its widgets, its dock and its phone layout. Appearance has a layout chooser to switch between cards.
- Your UID shows when you hover your display name; tap it on a phone.
- The view count sits outside the card, top left.
- A custom cursor that is a picture now clicks from its middle, which is why the volume slider could not be grabbed; the slider is also easier to catch.
- A new status page at status.mutate.lol checks every part of the site every five minutes and opens its own incidents.
- The dashboard sidebar scrolls again, and the publish bar only appears when something is unsaved.
- The public file gallery is gone. Each file is reachable only by its own link.
23 September 2026
v1.2
The dock is preinfection’s dock
2 changes
- Every icon in the dock is a filled logo now, the same ones preinfection.lol uses, instead of an outline. X, YouTube, Twitch, Spotify, Steam, Telegram and Reddit are drawn to match them.
- Icons rest a little dimmer and brighten under the pointer, with preinfection’s timing.
22 September 2026
v1.1
Open again, and a cleaner dock
12 changes
- Sign-ups and sign-ins are open again.
- The circle behind a dock icon on hover is smaller and stays inside the bar, the way preinfection.lol draws it.
- On a phone the dock owns a sideways drag, so the icons keep swelling under your finger instead of dropping back when it moves.
- Profiles with more links than one row can hold split into even rows that fit the card, instead of running off both ends of it.
- Faint borders were being drawn solid white by the stylesheet minifier: the ring round avatars, the Discord widget, badge tooltips, the music button and widget panels. They are faint again.
- A long name or a pasted link in a bio wraps inside the card instead of pushing the page sideways on a phone.
- Your UID shows beside your name again: on hover on a computer, always on a phone.
- Every dashboard section that publishes shows whether you have unsaved changes, with Discard and Publish kept in reach.
- The badge picker no longer offers the owner-only badges, which were being removed as soon as they were published.
- Links can be reordered from the keyboard, and on a phone the address field gets the full width of its row.
- A new Everything else page, and terms, credits and this changelog laid out like preinfection.lol’s, with shorter lines.
- Fixed: the dashboard called the second person to sign up the '2th'.
21 September 2026
v1.0
Effects, layouts, analytics and aliases
14 changes
- 12 background effects: rain, snow, particles, stars, scanlines, static, Old TV, embers, matrix, bubbles, confetti, each with its own colour. One canvas, stopped when the tab is hidden, never started under reduced motion.
- 9 username effects: gradient, shine, glitch, pulse, rainbow, typewriter, wave, neon.
- A typewriter bio with up to four cycling lines. The text is in the markup and gets replaced, rather than the page starting empty, so a bio is readable with or without scripts.
- 4 layouts: stacked, side by side, banner, minimal.
- Separate glows for the name, the socials and the badges.
- The full colour set: text, muted, icons, and a two-stop card gradient.
- Monochrome icons, animated tab title, swapped box colours, hide badges.
- Custom title and description for link unfurls.
- 138 badges, up from 69.
- Analytics: 30 days of views and a country breakdown. Counters, never a log. There is no row per visit, so there is nothing behind the numbers to look through.
- Three aliases per account, free.
- Profile search.
- Card length, alongside width.
- Saves are a merge, not a replacement. Every dashboard section used to post the whole profile, so saving from a page holding an older copy silently deleted whatever had been changed elsewhere. It cost 68 badges before it was caught.
21 September 2026
v0.9
Your cursor stops disappearing, and the card got faster
6 changes
- A custom cursor now survives every element on the page. It was being replaced by the hand the moment a pointer crossed a social icon, because a link carries cursor:pointer from the browser's own stylesheet and that beats an inherited value.
- The card can be sized, 28rem to 56rem, with 44 the default measured off preinfection.
- Appearance shows your actual page beside the controls, at desktop or phone width. It frames the real profile served by the real renderer rather than a replica, because a replica is a second implementation and the day it drifts is the day the preview starts lying.
- A profile arrives in about 155ms instead of 880. The status and the custom badges were being fetched one after the other when neither depends on the other; started together they cost one round trip instead of two.
- profile.css is 11.8 kB instead of 28, profile.js 4.3 kB instead of 12.8, and both are cached for a year now that they carry a version tag.
- The card width bound lives on the stage, so it measures 704px exactly, as the reference does.
21 September 2026
v0.8
The card is preinfection's card
8 changes
- The container rules are copied from preinfection's stylesheet declaration for declaration, including the two absences that matter: no backdrop-filter and no box-shadow.
- A 30px black shadow under a transparent card does not disappear. It darkened the film behind it and read as the card being a grey slab, which is exactly what it looked like.
- A 0px backdrop-filter is not free either: it still makes the element a backdrop root, so the browser re-composites everything under the card on every frame of the video to blur it by nothing.
- The fill is alpha 0, the gradient is transparent to transparent, and a 5px warm border at 25% is the only thing holding the panel together. Fill and blur now only apply when somebody turns them up.
- The width bound moved off the card and onto the stage. A card asking for min(44rem, 100%) inside a shrink-to-fit parent is circular and settles near 606px instead of 704.
- Badges use the reference's geometry: 18px cells, 8px apart, the glyph at 84% of its cell.
- A Discord widget with the picture, the handle and the status written out, in place of a bare dot beside the name. The picture is served by this site, so looking at a profile does not hand your address to Discord.
- The vignette over the background is far lighter. preinfection does not wash its film at all.
21 September 2026
v0.7
Readable on a phone, and private by default
10 changes
- The terms were unreadable on a phone. Each timeline row reserved a 600px-wide placeholder while off screen, so the text laid out to 600px on a 390px screen and was clipped. Measured, found, removed.
- Fonts no longer come from Google. The stylesheet and every font file are fetched by this site and served from it, so a visitor's IP address never reaches a third party. There are now zero Google requests on a profile page.
- "click anywhere" is in the served markup instead of being added by script, so it is there on the first frame rather than dropping over a page that already painted.
- Templates. preinfection.lol is the first: its film, its soundtrack, its colour, its type and its glass in one press. It never touches your name, picture, bio, links or badges, and everything stays editable afterwards.
- A profile picture can be removed, and a profile with none closes up so the name is the top of the card.
- Signing up requires accepting the terms and confirming you are 13 or over. Both are checked on the server and recorded with a date.
- The terms are five sections longer: age, third parties, Discord, name ownership, and how changes are announced.
- Smooth scrolling everywhere, via Lenis, off on touch and off for anybody who asked for reduced motion.
- The changelog, terms and credits carry a scroll progress bar and the rail draws itself in, as preinfection's does.
- The view count is printed rather than counted up to.
21 September 2026
v0.6
preinfection's dock, cover and player
12 changes
- The dock from preinfection.lol, ported spring for spring. It sizes itself to however many links a profile has, and magnifies under a pointer or a finger.
- "click anywhere" now opens every profile, with the same blur and the same 500ms fade. It cannot be switched off, and it leaves a custom cursor alone.
- The volume button, and the slider that grows out of it on hover. Dragging to the bottom mutes.
- Profiles can have no picture at all, with the name as the top of the card.
- A tab now shows just the display name. It was appending the site's name to every profile.
- Background videos can be 50 MB, stored in pieces because a KV value stops at 25.
- Discord status publishes for everyone on the watch list, not just the owner.
- Founder and Developer badges are the owner's only, and are stripped from any profile that has one.
- mutate.lol/mutate serves the same page as mutate.lol/me.
- The landing page knows when you are already signed in.
- The sidebar stops emptying and refilling every time you change dashboard section.
- Terms, changelog and credits now use preinfection's timeline layout.
21 September 2026
v0.5
Terms, credits and a changelog
4 changes
- Discord linking works: the client secret and redirect are in place, and Connect Discord adds you to the server as part of the same step.
- Accept and Reject on a custom badge work. The interactions endpoint was never registered with Discord, which is why the buttons timed out.
- An approved badge can be taken off your page, or deleted, without losing its approval.
- Links can carry a picture of your own, and Other at the bottom of the list covers anything unnamed.
21 September 2026
v0.4
The dashboard grew up
4 changes
- Every dashboard page is centred instead of pinned to the left with half the screen empty.
- The outer edge of the card can be turned off. Fill, blur and tilt follow it, because none of them mean anything without an outline.
- All 1,825 fonts show their own name in their own face, and the visible ones preload so the list stops juddering while you scroll.
- One curve and one duration for everything that opens or closes.
20 September 2026
v0.3
Background removal, rebuilt
4 changes
- Cut-outs sample the whole border rather than four corners, spread from every matching edge pixel, and delete the leftover specks.
- It says so honestly when a picture has no flat background instead of publishing fragments.
- The site's own scrollbar, ported from preinfection.lol.
- The grid on the front page is interactive: squares light up under the pointer, even through the text.
20 September 2026
v0.2
Profiles
4 changes
- mutate.lol/<name> renders from the database: avatar, bio, badges, links, background, music, colours and font.
- 69 badges with no background, in preinfection's style.
- Ten live Discord status slots, first come first served, released the moment somebody turns theirs off.
- Your number is the order you signed up in, and it is never reused.
20 September 2026
v0.1
It exists
4 changes
- mutate.lol is live on Cloudflare.
- Accounts, with a six-digit code to prove the email is yours.
- Turnstile on signup.
- Usernames checked for shape, for reserved routes and against a slur filter with 150 test cases.
